Its fame
The first race in history to last 24 hours, Le Mans is mythical. Known worldwide for its famous endurance race, which welcomes every year the best drivers and gentlemen drivers, and 250 000 spectators.
The cinema has been inspired several times by the race of Le Mans, of course, the famous movie with Steve McQueen, called Le Mans, and released in 1971, which our pair of gloves is fully inspired especially on these white colors and blue and red stripes.
Steve McQueen, himself a great driver and biker, wanted to express in a film the quintessence of this race.
Luc Besson, also made in 2002 several scenes during the 24 Hours for the movie Michel Vaillant, adapted from the famous comic strip.
First race in 1923
Developed around the Bugatti circuit, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has large parts of road sections, the most famous of which is the famous Hunaudières straight, over 6 km long. There are also other famous stretches such as Tertre Rouge, Arnage, Mulsanne… portions that remain unique in the memory of endurance racing fans. Its first edition took place in 1923, with a circuit measuring 17 km.
Its fame comes also unfortunately from the danger of this race and its dramas: Many pilots have lost their lives during this race (22 pilots died) but also among the spectators. The most striking being the accident of June 11, 1955, when the Mercedes 300 SLR of Pierre Levegh flew and crashed into the stands: The French pilot killed himself and took the lives of 82 spectators!

Hold Fast wanted to pay tribute to this mythical race through this pair of leather gloves, but also to all those who have left their lives there, by passion.
