FOLSOM PRISON:
Built in 1880, Folsom Prison in California is the oldest prison in the state along with San Quentin. Reputedly strict, 92 death sentences by hanging have taken place there.
Famous inmates such as Charles Manson or Sonny Barger have passed through the walls of Folsom.
Its notoriety was acquired following the song of Johnny Cash « Folsom Prison Blues » recorded on the spot in 1968 in front of an audience of prisoners and guards, whose shouts and applause are audible on the album.
